Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) Focuses on “Workforce Challenges Facing Natural Gas Transportation,” Presented by Interliance
Santa Ana, CA/ June 1, 2006 – INGAA, the key association for giving voice to the regulatory, legislative and business issues in the natural gas pipeline sector, had Interliance speak to their executive group on aging workforce and talent shortage difficulties in their industry.
INGAA speaks for the companies that own and operate some 180,000 miles of interstate natural gas pipelines throughout North America. INGAA members transport more than 90 percent of the nation's natural gas. Their attention to the looming retirements is critical for the millions of Americans who rely on the consistently safe, environmentally clean and low-cost source of energy to fuel homes and workplaces.
The companies that build and operate interstate natural gas pipelines have created the safest mode of transportation today and the integrity of the systems is paramount.
Because of this, the talent shortage of a qualified workforce is a primary area of concern: “Increased hiring is not keeping up with needs, since open positions are also increasing. Organizations are competing for the same technical resources. A likely crunch situation...,” said Brad Kamph, Interliance Executive Vice President and process industry workforce expert.
Mr. Kamph’s presentation triggered a vigorous discussion regarding where the industry’s focus is, versus where it should be to truly mitigate the risks and costs associated with losing valuable knowledge and skills. It is anticipated that INGAA will hold further meetings discussing this topic.
If you would like more information on how Interliance can help your company or association address workforce issues or are an executive in the oil and gas sector who would like a copy of the presentation, please email info@interliance-knowledge.com today with “INGAA” as the subject.
